A Visit From Grandma

Grandma Sandy came to Vegas for a visit this week. We spent time at the park, playing at home, at Kyle's soccer practice, shopping and generally just hanging out. Grandma was introduced to Abbie's favorite TV show, BunnyTown, which she would watch non-stop if I let her (Abbie that is). The weather has been nice so we were lucky to spend quite a bit of time outside. Here are some photos from her visit.

Basketball Tropies, A Haircut and A Nap

Kyle's basketball season ended Saturday with an overtime win and the league's "Sportsmanship Award". The Jaguars practiced and played hard all season but struggled with rather short and several inexperienced players. Kyle gave 100% all season and made most of the points in each game. After a season of football where Kyle was on a team that won the Superbowl but barely let him play, a basketball team that lost most of the games but allowed all the players to participate, regardless of skill or experience, was refreshing. Kyle did a great job of encouraging the players who weren't as talented and needed a little extra help and really worked hard himself on becoming a better player. Tripp and I were really proud of him. But the end of basketball doesn't mean a break from sports. Spring soccer started and we spent last week driving Kyle to both basketball and soccer practices all week. With 10 year old boys, the fun never ends.

The fro got a trim this weekend. Abbie did a great job of sitting still while Stephanie evened-out her curly mop. It is a little short now but at least as it begins to grow again, it will be at the same length...not with crazy long and short strands all mixed in. A friend recently described her fro as "dainty" and I thought it was a sweet way to describe her disco hairdo.

Daisy received her second haircut. She waited patiently for Stephanie to arrive while daddy took the time for a quick nap. Daisy didn't seem to mind....

Weekend in Cedar City

After Kyle's game on Saturday, we loaded up the car and headed to Cedar City for a weekend with Mamathom, Papathom and Trey. The weather was cold but the kids loved playing in the snow. Daisy got lots of cuddles from her Grandma and we all had a nice time hanging out together.

Our hotel had a pool so Tripp, Kyle, Abbie, Mamathom & Papathom took a dip shortly after we got into town.

Abbie on Saturday with her cousin Trey. She had a long day and was pretty pooped. I think the condition of the fro says it all.

Monday we all went to Pizza Factory (our Cedar City favorite) before hitting the road.

After a morning in the snow and a tummy full of Pizza Factory, Abbie snuggled up with blankie & Kitty and a movie for the ride home.

Seven Things About Abbie

A lot of people have been posting seven things about themselves lately...it's sort-of a tag thing. Instead of posting them about myself, I'll post about the kids. They are infenitely more interesting....
Seven things about Abbie:
1. She loves watching the original Winnie the Pooh movie. It's her favorite. I can't begin to count how many times she has watched it. We just found out yesterday that her best friend Ruby loves it too! It must be a 2 yr. old girl thing...those that aren't into princesses that is.
2. She loves snacks. She asks me for snacks about every 10 minutes. My friend Nikki used to joke that Abbie was never allowed to have snacks but I think this is why I am/was so crazy about limiting them...now that she can say it she wants them all day long.
3. She loves her family. She adores both Kyle and Daisy and is so excited to see her Grand"Papa" Marz, Aunt Lindsay & Aunt Ham (Sammy), MamaThom and cousin Saige. She just loves having any or all of them over to visit.
4. She likes wearing bows and flowers in her fro. I thought it would be tough to get her to wear them but it's really not. She asks for bows all the time now. I think she knows that fro of hers needs a little something special.
5. She likes to serve tea and cook in her kitchen. Santa hit the jackpot with the pink kitchen set and she digs the tea kettle and cups that Tripp and I gave her. She is always serving tea or pushing the stuff around in her grocery cart.
6. Abbie likes to jump around like Tigger and Rabit from Winnie the Pooh. She doesn't really jump but she sure gives it a good try. It's pretty funny to watch. I need to get a video of it and post sometime.
7. Abbie loves to pray. She wants to say the blessing on the food and the nightly prayer each night. You can't really understand what she is saying except there seems to be a lot of Kyle in it. Tripp is convinced that she is saying some type of really sweet prayer so I'll trust him on that. I laughed the first few times she said the prayer but now I am over how funny it is and just proud that my little two year old wants to pray.

There is a lot more I could say about my sweet little two-year old and her Abbie-ness (I don't know how else to describe her unique little personality), but I'll leave it with this...she definitely has been a blessing in our lives. She has a unique personality that Tripp, Kyle and I could all love together. Her Abbie-ness has made this family pretty special.

Two Months

I'm two months old today! I've gotten bigger and happier. I smile a lot now. I'm doing a better job of sleeping through the night but I still wake up and cry a little sometimes. I'm starting to like my toys. I especially love my brother & sister.

Overall, it's pretty good to be 2 months!

Blessing Day

Daisy and her cousin Garrett Parker Thompson, born to Patrick & Jennifer two weeks ago, were blessed today in our ward. Both babies were blessed by their fathers and both had the hands of loving Grandpas, Uncles, Cousin & Friend in the circle.

The Thompson, Randall (Jenn's family) & Marz families and friends all gathered at our house after church for lunch. Below are some photos from our lovely day.

Daisy missed her Aunt Elizabeth, for whom she was named, but her wonderful cousin Trey got to stand in the circle and report back to his mom...something that was missing from Abbie's two years ago (Tripp and I reflected this morning that we blessed Abbie two years ago this weekend and exactly the same people stood in the circle with the exception of Trey).
